Synthesis and characterization of Poly(ethylene glycol)-based segmented ionenes block copolymer with aliphatic or DABCO hard segments

A series of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-based segmented block copolymers were synthesized with two structurally different hard segments, linear and heterocyclic aliphatic amines. Ionenes via a modified Menshutkin reaction three weight fractions domains (amine rich segment) soft (PEG oligomers). TGA results show that both DABCO-based ionenes thermally stable up to 250 °C. DSC XRD data indicate increasing the fraction segment from 25 wt% 50 triggered better chain packing PEG for segments. Also, displayed highest crystallite purity at segment. The exhibited high strain elongation percentages elevated temperatures (i.e., above melting temperature). mechanical properties changed by varying nature domains. DMA analysis concluded possess superior elastomeric behavior having wider rubbery plateau higher storage modulus compared analogs all potentially due microphase separation ionic aggregation. AFM confirmed had relatively degree among other fractions.
